This study utilized a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based approach to estimate soil bearing capacity in Talavera, Nueva Ecija for preliminary geotechnical screening in data-limited settings. Secondary data from Geoportal Philippines and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reports were integrated with Terzaghi’s bearing capacity equation to evaluate representative soil types under standardized dry and groundwater conditions. Computed allowable capacities range from 181–208 kPa under dry conditions and decrease to 98–182 kPa with groundwater influence. Borehole data indicate heterogeneous subsurface profiles composed of interbedded silt, clay, and sand layers, with strength generally increasing with depth. Comparison with field-based values reveals discrepancies due to soil variability, foundation depth differences, groundwater conditions, and data limitations. The results suggest that GIS-based estimation can support preliminary spatial screening; however, site-specific geotechnical investigations remain essential for reliable foundation design.
