Soap is a product that plays a major role in the world of cosmetics in maintaining hygiene and preventing bacterial growth. One innovation in soap manufacturing is transparent soap.  Transparent soap is soap with an attractive, classy, and luxurious appearance because it is clear and translucent, has moisturizing properties, effective cleaning power without leaving soap suds, and feels softer. To produce transparent soap, high-quality raw materials and optimal production conditions are required. The high-quality raw materials selected in this study were virgin coconut oil (VCO) and secang wood extract. VCO is pure coconut oil made from coconut meat, processed without heating so that the essential compounds needed by the body remain intact. Secang wood (Caesalpinia sappan L) has various biological benefits, such as anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-allergic, analgesic, and so on.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of process temperature and sucrose concentration used in the manufacture of transparent soap. The raw materials used were VCO, sodium hydroxide (NaOH), stearic acid, citric acid, glycerol, ethanol, and secang wood extract as an additive. The results of the study indicate that the optimal conditions for obtaining relatively good transparent soap are a temperature of 70°C and a sucrose concentration of 70%. Under these conditions, the soap produced had good color and transparency, a moisture content of 15.2%, a pH of 10.33, and a foam stability of 89.41%.
