Continuity & Resilience in the Aerospace Supply Chain: Lessons from Global Disruptions
Downloads
Aerospace supply chains are characterized by long lead times, high regulatory requirements, and tightly synchronized production systems, which make them particularly vulnerable during global disruptions. Under conditions of systemic stress, traditional efficiency-driven supply chain models often prove insufficient to ensure operational continuity. This paper examines continuity and resilience mechanisms in aerospace supply chains during periods of global disruption, drawing on observed operational practices and execution-focused coordination models. The study highlights how prioritization, bottleneck management, supplier proximity, and real-time visibility enable organizations to sustain operations despite severe constraints. The findings suggest that resilience in aerospace supply chains depends less on advanced planning models and more on disciplined execution, cross-functional alignment, and visibility across supplier networks. While grounded in the aerospace industry, the insights presented are applicable to other complex and highly regulated supply chains facing increasing volatility.
